plugindb
A public database showing where WordPress plugins store their data.
Tables, options and fields per plugin, prepared for machines to read, for anyone moving or cleaning up a WordPress site.
What it is
What a WordPress plugin really does, observed rather than copied from its marketing.
The entries come from a test lab of my own: a WordPress install where plugins are installed and put through their paces to see what they actually do. The observations become my plugin documentation, and the database is built from that. So the site has a source that keeps delivering.
- Where a plugin keeps its data: tables, options and fields
- Observed in a test lab, not taken from descriptions
- Built on WordPress itself, because that is where the data is filtered and linked
- In English, for the whole WordPress world
Who it is for
A good fit if
you move or clean up WordPress sites, or want to know before installing what a plugin leaves behind in your database.
Not a fit if
you want a recommendation for which plugin to use. The database describes; it does not recommend.
Status
An idea. The database grows out of my own plugin documentation.
